CCTV Drain Inspection Central Coast

We inspect the inside of your sewer or stormwater pipes to identify tree roots, cracks, collapsed sections, blockages and other hidden drainage problems.

Blocked Up Plumbing provides CCTV drain inspections across the Central Coast to investigate recurring blockages, slow drains and suspected pipe damage. A specialised camera is inserted into the drainage line, allowing our plumber to view the inside of the pipe and identify visible problems.

CCTV inspection footage can reveal tree-root intrusion, cracked or collapsed sections, displaced joints, accumulated debris and other drainage faults. Where required, we can combine the inspection with electronic pipe location to identify the position and depth of the affected section.

After inspecting the line, we explain what was found and discuss the appropriate clearing or repair options. If the pipe is completely blocked, drain clearing may be required before the camera can travel through the line.

Find the Cause of Your Drainage Problem

Blocked Up Plumbing provides CCTV drain inspections across the Central Coast for recurring blockages, slow drains, sewer backups and suspected underground pipe damage.

A specialised waterproof camera is guided through an accessible section of the drainage line. The live footage allows our plumber to examine the inside of the pipe and identify visible problems that cannot be diagnosed from above ground.

A CCTV inspection may reveal tree-root intrusion, cracked pipework, collapsed sections, displaced joints, accumulated debris, foreign objects and other drainage faults. Where required, the inspection can be combined with electronic pipe location to identify the position and approximate depth of the affected section.

After inspecting the pipe, we explain what was found and discuss the available clearing or repair options. If the drain is completely obstructed, blocked-drain clearing may be required before the camera can travel through the line.

When Is a CCTV Drain Inspection Recommended?

A drain camera inspection is particularly useful when the symptoms suggest that the problem is deeper inside the drainage system.

We may recommend CCTV inspection when:

  • The same drain keeps blocking.

  • Several toilets, sinks or floor wastes are draining slowly.

  • Drains gurgle when another fixture is used.

  • Sewage smells are coming from multiple drains.

  • Wastewater is backing up through a toilet, shower or inspection opening.

  • Tree-root intrusion is suspected.

  • A cracked, displaced or collapsed pipe may be causing the problem.

  • The blockage has been cleared but the underlying cause remains unknown.

  • The position of an underground pipe or damaged section needs to be confirmed.

  • Drainage problems are being investigated before repair, renovation or excavation.

A CCTV inspection is not necessary for every minor blockage. Our plumber can assess the symptoms and explain whether camera inspection is likely to provide useful information.

For more information about recurring problems, read our guide to why blocked drains keep coming back.

What Can a CCTV Drain Camera Identify?

The camera provides a live view of the accessible interior of the pipe. Depending on the condition of the line and the camera’s access, it may reveal:

Tree Roots Inside the Pipe

Roots can enter through cracks, failed joints and damaged sections of underground drainage pipe. Once inside, they can collect waste and contribute to recurring blockages.

Cracked or Broken Pipework

Cracks may allow soil, roots or groundwater to enter the pipe. CCTV footage can help determine where visible damage begins and how much of the accessible pipe appears to be affected.

Collapsed Pipe Sections

A collapsed or heavily deformed section can restrict flow or prevent the camera from travelling farther through the line. Electronic location equipment may then be used to mark the problem area above ground.

Displaced or Misaligned Joints

Pipe movement can create steps or gaps between adjoining sections. These areas may catch waste, allow roots to enter or prevent wastewater from flowing correctly.

Grease, Debris and Foreign Objects

The camera may show grease accumulation, construction material, wet wipes, foreign objects or other material restricting the pipe.

Standing Water or Poor Drainage

Water remaining inside the pipe may indicate a low point, restricted section, damaged pipe or an issue with the pipe’s fall. Further assessment may be needed to determine the appropriate repair.

Corrosion or Pipe Deterioration

Some pipe materials can deteriorate internally over time. CCTV footage can show visible corrosion, scaling or surface damage in accessible sections of the line.

CCTV Inspection and Drain Clearing Are Different Services

A CCTV inspection diagnoses visible problems inside a drainage line. It does not usually remove the obstruction itself.

Drain clearing uses equipment such as high-pressure water jetting or other appropriate methods to restore flow. CCTV inspection can then help determine whether roots, damaged pipework or another defect caused the blockage.

Some jobs require both services:

  1. The blockage is cleared so the camera can pass through the pipe.

  2. The line is inspected to identify the underlying cause.

  3. The affected section may be electronically located.

  4. The plumber explains whether further repair is recommended.

CCTV Drain Inspection FAQs

How much does a CCTV drain inspection cost?

The cost depends on pipe access, the length and condition of the line, whether the drain must first be cleared and whether electronic pipe location is required. Contact our team and describe the symptoms so we can explain the likely inspection requirements and available pricing.

Can you inspect a completely blocked drain?

A camera may not be able to pass through a pipe that is completely obstructed. The blockage may need to be cleared before the camera can inspect the line beyond that point.

Our Central Coast blocked-drain plumbers can clear the obstruction and then inspect the pipe when appropriate.

Does a CCTV inspection clear the blockage?

No. CCTV inspection is used to view and diagnose the inside of the pipe. Drain-clearing equipment is required to remove roots, grease, debris or other obstructions. Some appointments involve both clearing and inspection.

Can you locate the damaged pipe from above ground?

Where compatible equipment and access allow, electronic locating equipment can help identify the position and approximate depth of the camera or affected pipe section.

See our electronic pipe-location service for more information.

Will I be able to see the camera footage?

Our plumber can show and explain relevant findings visible on the inspection screen. Confirm with the team before booking when you specifically require a recorded video, photographs or written inspection report.
